We have been stuck at home now for about 7 months due to the COVID pandemic, so we’ve been playing a lot of games. I’m starting to go a little stir crazy, so my wife suggested I needed a project. I thought about it for a while and decided I wanted to make a gaming table! I’ve always wanted a nice, modular table that could handle board games and role playing games. And of course it had to have cup holders.

The issue was we don’t really have room in our little house to place a big new table. So my wife came up with the idea to create some kind of modular table that could sit on top of our existing tables. This would also provide the benefit of being able to play inside or outside, or anywhere we wanted.

It was a pretty straight-forward build. I constructed the thing out of pine boards, assembled and stained them.  I purchased some nice cup holders online, and some felt for the playing surface.

There are two 2’x4′ 1/4″ plywood boards for the playing surface, which I covered in felt. Then the player stations sit on top top of these, and kind of snap together.

It’s a not the world’s most glamorous gaming table, but we’ve been having a lot of fun with it.
