Welcome to The Road Leff Traveled!
The personal blog of a middle-aged guy with nothing better to do.
Fun With Wood
CraftsThere is a little website in our neighborhood where people post random news and events. The other day someone posted that they are trying to get rid of a bunch of wood that they somehow recovered from a restaurant that had been demolished. I grabbed it and went to work!
Stables
DIYMy daughter is going through a big horse phase right now, so I decided to make her a stable for her toy horses.
The Season
CraftsA few months again my wife and I binged watched the show Brigerton on Netflix. I was fascinated by the strategy of trying to find a worthwhile suitor. I thought that this kind of epic battle seemed like it would make a great game!
Diagonal Drawers
DIYHere's a super-simple project to get the maximum space out of a kitchen drawer. These dividers took me about an hour to complete, and now my utensil drawer has plenty of room for those longer items!
The Cave of Munits
PersonalLast Friday was another Daddy-Daughter Adventure Day! Together we took a hike to the Cave of Munits.
Peloton Biking
PersonalI have never enjoyed exercising in a gym-type environment. But lately I've been exercising at home with Peloton classes, and I've really stuck with it.
Little Sewing Room
CraftsCheck out this little sewing room kit I put together over the past few weeks.
Fall Leaves!!
PersonalFall came late this year, but my daughter could not resist raking up a big pile of leaves and jumping right in!
Holiday Tray Project
DIYThis year for the holidays Ragon had an idea to give out some trays to friends and family. Due to the COVID pandemic we can't visit with people in person, but she thought it would be nice to leave a tray with some goodies on people's doorsteps, which I thought was a great idea. While she got some nice jars of jellies and baked goods, I went to work creating the actual trays.
2020 Holiday Card
PersonalThe holidays are almost here, and the family and I have completed our 2020 Holiday Card! Let’s face it, this year was a challenge for most people. From record-setting wildfires here in California, the ongoing climate crisis, a nail-biting election, social distancing, protests over racial injustice, and of course the COVID-19 pandemic.
Napkin Holder
DIYThe kitchen table is usually a mess, and I needed something to do. Sounds like the perfect combination for a weekend project!
Gaming Table
DIYWe have been stuck at home now for about 7 months due to the COVID pandemic, so we've been playing a lot of games. I'm starting to go a little stir crazy, so my wife suggested I needed a project. I thought about it for a while and decided I wanted to make a gaming table! I've always wanted a nice, modular table that could handle board games and role playing games. And of course it had to have cup holders.
Anacapa Island Day Trip
PersonalMy daughter and I boarded a boat at the Ventura Harbor and journeyed to Anacapa Island for day of hiking and exploring.
Ukulele
PersonalMy daughter and I had a fun weekend creating this video! I shot this whole thing with my phone camera, and edited it together in the amazing and free Davinci Resolve editor. This was almost all with a green screen background, and Alice and I had a fun time doing it.
